Access guide
Jev access
Jev is not gated behind an invite or a waitlist, so "getting access" is really a choice between four routes with different requirements. You can read recorded decisions without an account at all, run your own text on a free Jev AI account with 20 welcome credits, call the API with a key you create yourself, or go to TypeSafe and the other hosts that serve the model. This page sorts out which route you want and sends you to the page that covers it properly.
Four routes to the model
They differ in what you have to set up, not in which model answers. Pick the first row that covers what you are trying to do.
| Route | What you need | Right for |
|---|---|---|
| Read the recorded examples | Nothing — no account, no card | Seeing what a typed decision looks like before you commit to anything |
| Run your own text on Jev AI | A free account: Google sign-in or an email magic link | Trying Jev on your own cases; eligible new accounts get 20 welcome credits |
| Call the Jev AI API from your code | The same free account, plus a key you create on the API page | Wiring Jev into an application, an agent or a batch job |
| Go to TypeSafe or another host | An account with that provider and its own key | Buying direct, or staying inside a cloud you already use |
| Run an open model on your own hardware | A GPU and an open alternative — Jev itself has no public weights | Keeping the decisions on machines you control |
Getting access on Jev AI
Three steps, and the only thing you have to keep afterwards is the key.
Use Google or ask for an email magic link. No card is required, and eligible new accounts receive 20 welcome credits. Jev AI accounts are separate from TypeSafe accounts; neither one signs you in to the other.
- Try a decision in the playground
Load one of the recorded examples, replace the text with your own and run it. A native Jev run costs one credit, so the welcome grant covers a real evaluation before you buy anything.
- Create an API key when you are ready to build
Open the API page, name a key and select Create key. The secret appears once — copy it then and store it on your server as JEV_AI_API_KEY. Creating, listing and revoking keys is free and never runs the model.
When access does not work
Almost every report comes down to one of these four. None of them is a waitlist or a region block.
| What you see | Usual cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| 401 on an API call | The key is missing, mistyped or revoked, or a Jev AI key was sent to a different host. | Check the Authorization: Bearer header and the destination URL. With the TypeSafe SDK, set baseURL as well as the key. |
| A TypeSafe key is rejected here | The two services issue their own keys and do not accept each other's. | Create a Jev AI key for this API, or call TypeSafe directly with the TypeSafe one. |
| The playground asks you to sign in | Reading a recorded example needs no account, but running your own text does. | Sign in with Google or an email magic link; the result is then saved to your account. |
| A run is refused for balance | Welcome and check-in credits are used up and no input tokens have been purchased. | Check in from the header for more gift credits, or buy input tokens. A failed or timed-out run returns its reserved credit. |
Where to go next
Jev access questions
Is there a waitlist for Jev?
No. Jev is generally available. You can read recorded decisions on this site without an account, and create a free Jev AI account in a few seconds with Google or an email magic link.
Do I need an account to try Jev?
Not to read the recorded examples. Running your own text, or an edited example, needs a free account so the result and the charge belong to someone. Eligible new accounts get 20 welcome credits and no card is required.
Does a TypeSafe account give me access here?
No. TypeSafe operates typesafe.ai and its own console; Jev AI is an independent playground and API with its own accounts, keys and balances. A key from one service is rejected by the other. Choose the service you intend to use before creating an account.
How do I get API access?
Sign in, open the Jev API page, name a key under "Your Jev API keys" and select Create key. Copy the secret when it appears, because it is shown only once, and store it on your server as JEV_AI_API_KEY. There is no separate application or approval step.
Can I get access to the Jev weights?
No. TypeSafe has not published them, so Jev itself cannot be downloaded or self-hosted. If running the decisions on your own hardware is the requirement, the open alternatives are the route, and the local guide compares them by licence, hardware and measured accuracy.
Is Jev access restricted by country?
Jev AI does not operate a country allow-list for signing in or calling the API. If a request fails, work through the access errors above before assuming a regional block.
Jev AI is an independent service that offers the Jev model through its own API and playground. It is not affiliated with TypeSafe AI, which develops the model.
